First we live. Then we die. And then...we get another try? Ten thousand tries, to be exact. Ten thousand lives to "get it right". Answer all the big questions. Achieve wisdom. And become one with everything. Milo has had 9,995 chances so far and has just five more lives to earn a place in the cosmic soul. If he doesn't make the cut, oblivion awaits. But all Milo really wants is to fall forever into the arms of Death. Or Suzie, as he calls her.

Story
Paradise Lost, along with its companion piece, Paradise Regained, remain the most successful attempts at Greco-Roman style epic poetry in the English language. Remarkably enough, they were written near the end of John Milton's amazing life, a bold testimonial to his mental powers in old age. And, since he had gone completely blind in 1652, 15 years prior to Paradise Lost, he dictated it and all his other works to his daughter.

Cat's Cradle is Vonnegut's satirical commentary on modern man and his madness. An apocalyptic tale of this planet's ultimate fate, it features a little person as the protagonist; a complete, original theology created by a calypso singer; and a vision of the future that is at once blackly fatalistic and hilariously funny.

Publisher's Summary
A full cast edition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of New York Times bestselling and Newbery Medal-winning author Neil Gaiman’s modern classic, Coraline.
While exploring her new home, a young girl named Coraline unlocks a door to reveal a hidden passage. Intrigued, she ventures deep into a mysterious mirror realm, a world eerily similar yet darkly different from her own. There another mother and another father greet her, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.
Before long, the miraculous turns sinister, and Coraline must use her wits and courage to save herself―and the other trapped souls she finds along the way.
Filled with enchantments and terrors alike, this winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Bram Stoker Awards is a dazzling feat of imagination from a modern literary master.

I didn't actually much care for this when I first read it, some time ago, and decided against reading it to my kids. But I liked it much better as an audiobook. I do like Gaiman, and I'm glad I returned to it. But I still think my kids would have found it a bit much when they were young. It is genuinely terrifying in places, which I gather some kids quite like. To each their own.
