Story
Aliens exist...and, as it turns out, most of them aren’t that friendly. Jacob Brown wasn’t even born yet the first time they attacked Earth. He was only 14 the second time it happened. When Earth finally came together and fielded its first spaceborne military, Jacob didn’t hesitate to volunteer. Serving aboard a mighty starship, he’d be able to defend his planet - and his family - when, inevitably, they came again.

Story
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Jason Burke was a man hiding from himself in a small cabin high in the American Rocky Mountains when his simple, quiet life was shattered one night by what he first assumed was an aviation mishap. He suddenly finds himself trapped on a damaged alien spacecraft and plunged into a universe of interstellar crime lords and government conspiracies, along the way meeting strange new friends… and enemies. As he struggles to find his way back home he is inexorably drawn deeper into a world where one misstep could mean his death. Or worse. He desperately wants to get back to Earth, but it may be the end for him...or is it just the beginning?

Fun scifi story.
A really fun story where a guy hiding out disillusioned with the military boards an "aircraft" thinking it crashed and people need help. He's whisked away on a space adventure with synthetic beings and other assorted aliens he will soon call friends as well as making some powerful enemies on the way. Also some great narrating.

No Woke crap. Decent storytelling.
No political garbage. It's not a masterpiece but by today's standards it is. So far no agenda, no modern political garbage. Not the best thing ever written but it's not bad.

lame
Yeah this is so cheesy. Narrator was fine but the story was trying so hard to be heroic you couldn't take it seriously.

Very Weak Effort
Very Weak character development, dialogue didn't seem natural in any way. It felt lawkward and the story was less then compelling. Actually fast forwardes through the last little bit because I really wasn't invested in the characters. There are far too many good science fiction stories to waste your time in this one.

Meh. Never really got going.
Bit of a cozy sci fi. I really like Dalzelle’s other works (have read all the black fleet novels) but this one left me cold. It’s got some decent points and is kinda fun, but it’s a little YA for my tastes.
