Chika Jeune was born three days before the devastating earthquake that decimated Haiti in 2010. She spent her infancy in a landscape of extreme poverty, and when her mother died giving birth to a baby brother, Chika was brought to The Have Faith Haiti Orphanage that Albom operates in Port Au Prince. With no children of their own, the 40-plus children who live, play, and go to school at the orphanage have become family to Mitch and his wife, Janine. But at age five, Chika is suddenly diagnosed with something a doctor there says "no one in Haiti can help you with."

Story
Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination; it's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers. One by one, Eddie's five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his "meaningless" life.

Story
On mean Harp Bittlemore’s blighted farm, hidden away in the Backhills, nothing has gone right for a very long time. Crops don’t grow, the pigs and chickens stay skinny and the three aged dairy cows, Berle, Crilla and Dally, are so desperate they are plotting an escape. The one thing holding them back is the thought of abandoning young Willa, the single bright point in their life since her older sister, Margaret, ran away. But Willa Bittlemore, just turning 14, is planning her own rebellion.

Story
The First Phone Call from Heaven tells the story of a small town on Lake Michigan that gets worldwide attention when its citizens start receiving phone calls from the afterlife. Is it the greatest miracle ever or a massive hoax? Sully Harding, a grief-stricken single father, is determined to find out. An allegory about the power of belief - and a page-turner that will touch your soul - Albom's masterful storytelling has never been so moving and unexpected.

Publisher's Summary
An instant New York Times Bestseller
Beloved bestselling author Mitch Albom returns with a powerful novel of hope and forgiveness that moves from a coastal Greek city during WWII to America in the golden age of Hollywood, as the intertwined lives of three young survivors are forever changed by the perils of deception and the grace of redemption.
Eleven-year-old Nico Krispis has never told a lie. His schoolmate, Fannie, loves him because of it. Nico’s older brother Sebastian resents him for both these facts. When their young lives are torn apart during the war, it will take them decades to find each other again.
Nico’s innocence and goodness is used against his tightly knit community when a German officer barters Nico’s reputation for honesty into a promise to save his loved ones. When Nico realizes the consequences of the betrayal, he can never tell the truth again. He will spend the rest of this life changing names, changing locations and identities, desperate to find a way to forgiveness—for himself and from the people he loves most.
Albom’s extraordinary storytelling is at its powerful best in his first novel to confront the destruction that lying can wreak both on the world stage as well as on the individual lives that get caught up in it. As The Stranger in the Lifeboat spoke to belief, The Little Liar speaks to hope, in a breathless work that will break your heart open and fill it with the power of the human spirit and the goodness that lies within us all.
Narrated by the voice of Truth itself, The Little Liar is a timeless story about the power of love to ultimately redeem us, no matter how deeply we blame ourselves for our mistakes.

Reminded me the book called “The Mascot”
It’s interesting that “The Little Liar” reminded you of “The Mascot.” Both books seem to delve into themes of survival, identity, and the ways in which extreme circumstances can shape a person’s life in unexpected ways. Such narratives often compel us to reflect on the human capacity for resilience and adaptation, especially when faced with the horrors of war or the challenge of maintaining one’s identity amidst turmoil.

From Your Longtime Forever Fan
Another literary masterpiece Mitch! Your books are always written so eloquently, beautifully and with emotional simplicity. So much of this one resonated with me for what is happening in the world today. May we all learn its message.
I wish you many more years of writing books to teach us the lessons of living honestly.

A horrible story told in a sensitive way.
The characters were fictional but the details of their lives hold many facets of what actually happened. I loved the fact that the author read the story. He is gifted not only in his writing but also in his ability with foreign languages and accents. Hearing the dialogue in my own mind, if merely reading the words, would not have made such a lasting impact. This is a story that transcends race, religion or age. It provokes thought about what we know or believe to be the truth.

Mitch Albom is in fine form!
I’ve enjoyed all of his many books, and Mitch Albom did not disappoint me with this one. I especially looked forward to reading his thoughts regarding the holocaust since that is a subject that has always fascinated me. The perspective that he describes is not very different from those described by so many authors, including some who lived through those times. As for the lessons Mr. Albom brings through this book, there are several; however the main one is of course, let us not forget the atrocities so that they will not be repeated. Without spoiling anything, know that Mr. Albom does offer an interesting perspective as to why the German people - and much of the world - allowed this to happen
