Publisher's Summary

From Brandon Sanderson—author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive and its fourth massive installment, Rhythm of War—comes a new hefty novella, Dawnshard. Taking place between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War, this tale (like Edgedancer before it) gives often-overshadowed characters their own chance to shine.

When a ghost ship is discovered, its crew presumed dead after trying to reach the storm-shrouded island Akina, Navani Kholin must send an expedition to make sure the island hasn't fallen into enemy hands. Knights Radiant who fly too near find their Stormlight suddenly drained, so the voyage must be by sea.

Shipowner Rysn Ftori lost the use of her legs but gained the companionship of Chiri-Chiri, a Stormlight-ingesting winged larkin, a species once thought extinct. Now Rysn's pet is ill, and any hope for Chiri-Chiri’s recovery can be found only at the ancestral home of the larkin: Akinah. With the help of Lopen, the formerly one-armed Windrunner, Rysn must accept Navani's quest and sail into the perilous storm from which no one has returned alive. If the crew cannot uncover the secrets of the hidden island city before the wrath of its ancient guardians falls upon them, the fate of Roshar and the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

Featured Article: The Best Female Narrators You Can Listen To All Day

When considering a new audiobook, one of the biggest questions listeners have is whether they’ll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable as audiobooks span at least a few hours, and sticking with one person’s voice for that period can feel like a big commitment. Luckily, there are so many excellent voice actors performing audiobooks that you might just find yourself gravitating to certain audiobooks based solely on the narrator’s strength.

best author, publishing team, and narration team!

I am eternally grateful for all the work in this and of course the trilogy that got me hooked, Mistborn, the way of kings, Elantaris, the arcanum, the Cosmere, legion, and the hardy values they espouse about the human condition. keep it up for as long as it keeps you Happy 🙏 thanks!

The Lopen is one the best characters in the series

Great novella focusing on otherwise secondary characters who take center stage in this interesting and hilarious side quest. The quest itself isn’t funny, but rather the Lopen, who is a primary character for almost half the novel. I loved his banter with rushu and his infatuation with cord most of all. Definitely worth a read, and with an ending significant enough to spark genuine interest for how this will tie into the greater story in time.

Great Addition to the series

I have yet to read book four of the stormlight series, but look forward to finding out how this book ties in to the story. Wonderful as usual from Brandon, and great voice acting as we have come to expect.

A brief Sanderson novel

Usually I have to get into a proper mindset to listen to a Sanderson novel. But this novel short and sweet. He still has all of the details and the research is evident just not so overwhelming.

An exciting short story

The characterization of Rysn is executed very well. It's short but it was such a good read from beginning to end.

Great novella!

I love the narrators in this novella just as I do for all the storm light archive. I love getting more clues about the Sleepless.
