When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Description
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
In Pride and Prejudice, the Bennet sisters try to find their way in the repressive strictures of 19th-century society. Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and the experience of falling in love, and she superbly describes a world which, despite being more than two centuries old, still resonates with modern concerns.
Ce que les critiques en disent
"British actress Rosamund Pike is the perfect choice to narrate this novel of manners, and listening to her voice each of the iconic characters is great fun.... Austen's many devotees will savor this first-rate version of her charming novel." ( AudioFile)

Wasn't sure what to expect
I wasn't sure what to expect, but to my surprise, I really enjoyed the love story. The narrator's voices were perfect and it was a pleasure to listen to.

Absolutely Fantastic
I have tried many, many times to read Jane Austen's novels and couldn't get past the language of the age. With the audio book though, it was so much easier to get into the story. Rosamund PIke does a fantastic job bringing all the characters to life. I could not put this down. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

isn't the heading optional?
this is one of the classic novels of British literature that never fails to Delight anyone everyone. this story set the basis for all the Harlequin novels you've ever read, nearly all the rom-coms people find so amusing on television and movies and all this soap operas you've ever watched. I've read it many times and seen many movies that are made as copies of it brought up-to-date and taking place in India or America.

excellent narration
Rosamund Pike does a fantastic job with voicing all the characters, and as always, the story itself of the unlikely romance between Elizabeth and Darcy is a treat 👌

Great book - average narration 🤷♀️
One of my all time favourite books. While a do like Rosamund Pike and loved her in the role of Jane Bennett in the movie. The depth of character and range of voices didn’t quite do it for me.
