Makes me feel like my mother is reading me a book

Finished the manhwa a while ago and I thought that I'd check the novel out while waiting for the anime adaptation (if the leaks are real).

The story is good, the voice actor did an amazing job but the script they gave that poor guy...

Like stated in other comments, the description of sounds in the novel were quite out of place. I felt like a child being read to. Saying that the ground was shaking followed by "RUMBLE" got kind of old after 4 chapters.

Hope that it's something that they fixed in book 2.

not bad

I didn't realize I read the manga for this book a while ago. oops. the narrator could do female characters better. most the time I can't even tell it's a female. otherwise it's a decent story. basically dives right into action with the unlikely ( but obvious) hero.
won't buy the next book but that's because I already read way ahead.

hard part for me is distinguishing the characters with similar voices and unfamiliar names. since it's Korean names. get ready for OP MC!

Bad sound effects

The book has too many cringe sound effects. The sound of the “System interface ” sounds are so boring to hear and wastes so much time. Good story read the comic manhua for a better experience.

VA Is awesome

I've re read this story numerous times and finally bought it on audible to listen to while I work. Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by the voice actor. He really went all out and I love him for it, the screaming and action scenes were a delight. recommend highly.

Great story, good pacing.

I’ve now finished the whole series. It is an amazing story being told. The narrator did a great job, the sound effects where a bit much but not worth taking a star away for.

Very interesting story, nice twist on the genre.

I will say the sound effects are unnecessary and shouldn’t be used, the story is descriptive enough. The sound effects are produced by the narrators mouth, so he’s only got so much range for sound effects. Sand and breaking glass sound very similar for example and don’t really add anything to the script.

Other than that, it’s pretty interesting and certainly draws you in. I look forward to the next book (which I will be immediately). I wish the books were longer, but you get what you get and you don’t get upset. A worthy series, give it a go. The narrators reading voice is very good. Excellent voice for the MC as well. The writing is quite basic but the story is interesting and better when played as a “movie in the mind”.

Could only finish 1 chapter

I used to play morpgs a lot (mainly WoW and FF), so it wasn’t the terminology that made this hard for me to listen to; rather, it was the attempts to mesh irl into gaming that felt poorly thought out. That being said, it is possible that I am not the targeted demographic. While I used to game a lot, I now must be very old to the author, considering one of the characters with over 10 years of experience was considered “well-seasoned” lol
