Very well done

As someone who only watched the movies and never read the books, this was fantastic! I think this would be enjoyable for both those who have watched the movies and those who have not. The actor reading this series is the actor behind Gollum in the movies. He has a wide range of voices for different characters. I'm looking forward to listening to the next title!

Best version possible

It is indescribably well read, and I was amazed that the narrator also voice acted every character along the way. I enjoyed every second of the listen and will listen to it again but, for now, I have to listen to The Two Towers!

A Great Performance

This version was fantastic. I love the BBC Adaptation version with Michael Horden, but the Serkis reading was fantastic with so much richness.

Amazing Voice Acting

I avoided listening to the Lotr series for so long because of how old and awful the old recording was but this one is absolutely perfect!

A classic retold by a masterful narrator

Andy Serkis continues to be the low-key face of modern Lord of the Rings as he provides a spectacular narrative full of evocative verse and song. Truth be told, I read Fellowship when I was young and found it ti be a great bore, but having it read back to me changed everything. I now have a significantly greater appreciation of Tplkien's fondness for rhythmic prose and impromptu verse. Serkis does a mighty job with his voice acting in this one, and the cast, though large, is loaded with distinct, recognizable voices throughout. I was truly hooked! Even during the infamous Tom Bombadil parts.

Andy Serkis Ruined Audiobooks for me

I enjoyed Andy's performance all throughout the book. When I finally got to chapter 10 I have to say WOW. That was incredible. So much emotion, so much range. This is my new standard!
