About this listen
He's a duke. He's a mathematical genius. He can't talk and he's locked in a lunatic asylum. Only a modest Quaker girl can reach him, but when she helps him to escape, she's swept into his glittering aristocratic world, her life torn apart by his desperate attempt to save himself.
Laura Kinsale personally chose the exceptional talent of Nicholas Boulton to narrate her classic romance Flowers from the Storm - cited by readers of The Washington Post and Glamour magazine as "one of the greatest love stories of all time" - creating a fresh and unique work that brings all the power and intensity of the original to audio.

A very good performance by the reader of this book. However , I am disappointed on how the story flowed towards the end. There was no reason given for the lead male character illness
His fight to regain his reputation and position in society was anticlimactic. Very disappointing.

Kinsale and Boulton have outdone themselves
I cannot choose which of Kinsale's books I've enjoyed reading the most, but the talents of Kinsale and Boulton have combined to make this a gripping story. Never have I read, or listened as in this case, for hours straight through until the book was finisshed. The story is the longest I have come across, but Kinsale's plot never waivered into impossible drama nor the characters stuck in maudlin and repetitive self-dialogue. Boulton was so flawless in his narration and convincing in all of the character voices, that at times I only came out of being caught up in the story because a character would come to life that I would wonder at his range.

Fantastic
I don’t often write reviews, but I felt compelled after listening to this book. Flowers from the Storm was beautifully written. The storyline held me captive from the beginning. The narrator was amazing.
