About this listen

Available in audio first, an intoxicating new romance by USA Today best-selling author Louise Bay!

Being labelled a player never stopped me from being successful with women. Until I met Truly Harbury. Truly was the first girl who ever turned me down. The first female friend I ever had. And she might just be the first woman with whom I ever fall in love.

When an emergency means she needs my help running her family’s charity, I’m happy to introduce her to the glitz and glamour of the London business world - taking her to dinners, coaching her through speeches, zipping up the sexy evening gown I helped her pick out. The more time we spend together, the more I want to convince her I’m not a man to avoid, that we’re not as unsuited as she believes.

She sees herself as the book-reading, science-loving introvert while I’m the dangerous, outgoing charmer. She thinks I love parties and people whereas she prefers pajamas and takeout. What she doesn’t realize is that I like everything about her - the way her smile lights up a room, how her curves light up my imagination, and especially the way her lips taste when coated with tequila.

She’s the first woman with whom I ever fell in love. I just need to know if she could ever love me, too.

Friends to Lovers

I loved this book and its characters. Their growth during this story is awesome – that’s my jam. Truly doesn’t have enough confidence in herself or abilities and compares herself unfavourably to her twin sister. The is blind to her strengths and attributes. Noah, lives for the moment due to an accident that he was in as a child. He is a swoon worthy hero – strong, loving, kind, confident, smart, tall.

Their chemistry singes the pages right from the start. They have the best start to a romantic friendship, they start as friends, even though they have both been attracted to each other since they first met. I enjoyed the progression of their romantic relationship. I really love stories where the hero completely “gets”/understands the heroine, who she really is and shows it to her – that he loves all of her, warts and all.

I listened to this book on audible, and given that it’s set in London England, I’m glad I did, because listening to a man speak with a British accent, well it’s not to be missed. I did struggle at times to make out which male characters was speaking, but overall, I like both narrators and found them easy to follow, regardless how fast the speak.

This is a really good friends to loves with high steam.

Sweet and spicy story

I liked the friends to lovers storyline. The development of their relationship was very sweet. The story was predictable, but I didn’t mind. Makes for an easy listen while doing chores. Also, the sex scenes were spicy 🌶️🌶️
The British voice actors were excellent. The guy sounds like Sean Bean!

Predictable love story

The story took the usual line...established characters, foreshadowed challenges, filled out characters and how flawed they thought their beautiful selves were, ignored their incredible wealth, presented the challenge and resolved the challenge.
It was fine if you like that sort of thing. It was useful for a mindless commute. The sex scenes were a little graphic for my taste. When the narrators used opposite gender voices it was irritating but when they were in their own voice they were wonderful.

I don’t think it’s possible for Louise Bay to write anything bad!! This was another fantastic book by her. Loved the characters and the narration was sooooo good!

Exciting read!

Shane East has an amazing voice! Both actors take you on a wild ride of what it feels like when it's meant to be. Looking forward to the other novels by Louise Bay.

A formulaic romance novel.

I am not a fan of romance novels and if you are then you might enjoy this book but for me there was nothing that would make this any different than any other romance novel. The characters were not real to me. SPOILER ALERT: If there was someone you were falling for and you wanted to distance your feelings from them would you invite them to have casual sex with you? Seriously!!
The dual presenters also didn't work well in my view. I found it more of a distraction than an enhancement.

Nice romance with interesting characters

Somewhat your expected romance novel, the main characters have a great rapport though. I enjoyed that they’re geeky and smart. I thought the way that they think through things made a lot of sense. It felt very realistic to me.

The performances we’re very strong on both sides- both the male and female performers could deliver on the alternate gender voice really well, which I think is hard to do. It made for a seamless performance.
