About this listen

Tall, dark, and muscled like a god, Beau Barnett is great with an axe. Every woman in Rockhead Point wants a taste of the mountain man. Including me.

Except he doesn't even know my name. I'm just the girl behind the counter filling his coffee, while he grunts and grumbles, barely making eye contact. Then a newcomer with a charming smile and a fancy suit shows up in Rockhead Point, and refuses to take no for an answer when he asks me to dinner.

That's when I find out Mr. Mountain Man not only knows my name; he thinks I'm his property.

Damn!!

I wasn’t expecting that I loved the story but I wish it was a little more to the ending.

A Steamy Romance with a Mountain of Tension

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

As a newcomer to Gemma Weir's writing, I stumbled upon "Property of the Mountain Man" in a Facebook group dedicated to romance novels. This steamy tale delves into the life of Bonnie and Beau, exploring their complex relationship against the backdrop of Rockhead Point's rugged charm.

Beau Barnett, our mountain man protagonist, is a brooding figure with muscles that could rival the mountains themselves. While he's skilled with an axe, his emotional prowess leaves something to be desired. Initially, I was drawn to the dynamic between Bonnie and Beau, anticipating a passionate love story.

The chemistry between Bonnie and Beau is palpable, and their alliterative names add a whimsical touch to their connection. Bonnie, who harbors a longtime crush on Beau, finds herself caught in his protective orbit when he realizes she's been closing the café alone at night. Beau's overbearing nature, while typical of the genre, at times veers into excessive control, even surpassing the bounds of a typical dominant character.

Despite the engaging romance, I was slightly let down by the subplot involving Bonnie's brother, which felt underdeveloped and ultimately fizzled out. However, I appreciated the realism in Bonnie's strained family dynamics and her eventual bond with Beau's brothers.

Weir's writing style shines through, capturing Bonnie's internal struggles and Beau's gradual realization of his feelings. While the plot may not break new ground, the author's narrative prowess kept me engaged until the end.

In conclusion, "Property of the Mountain Man" is a satisfying read for fans of steamy romances with a dash of possessiveness. Gemma Weir's adept storytelling and compelling characters make this Montana Mountain Men series debut worth diving into, despite some minor narrative hiccups.

Good book but not sure I'll continue series

Story: 3.5/5
🌶: 4/5
Performance: 5/5

This book was really great if you like steamy hot stories. I generally enjoyed the story, it kept me interested enough to finish the book.

I didn't enjoy how the girls behavior is questioned by another character saying "what would your daddy say" as though she was a child. I found that a bit strange considering she's an adult and these types of references occur throughout the book.

I thought it strange when the MMC lies about his refractory period to appear "more of a man" or something of the like.

Finally, I love a possessive man but the way its written and evolves in this story it doesn't feel comfortable. It just seems like a constant obsession and he can't live his life without constantly barging into hers to control her. I guess I just really dislike the jealousy and control.

I would have Iiked to have more information about certain character dynamics such as Bonnie and her brother. We're basically left in the dark about why their relationship is the way that it is.

It was a good book all in all, it was just not exactly my type of book. I definitely think it's worth reading if the points I discussed aren't an issue for you.

So disappointed

Would have loved the story if it weren’t for the 20+ age gap and then he calls her “baby girl”. Yeah gives me total ped@phile vibes.

So toxic

He’s over over the top possessive and controlling. Plus the 22 year age gap was too much for me. Him calling her baby girl and trying to manipulate her to do what he wanted with sex after taking her virginity was just awful.

the creepy factor of the male character's possessiveness was a complete turn off., just way too much, over the top.
