About this listen
How far would you go for the perfect love? A young man’s dark obsession with an enigmatic, gorgeous writer leads to murderous consequences in this erotic psychological thriller.
You walk into the bookstore and you keep your hand on the door to make sure it doesn’t slam. You smile, embarrassed to be a nice girl, and your nails are bare and your V-neck sweater is beige and it’s impossible to know if you’re wearing a bra but I don’t think that you are. You’re so clean that you’re dirty and you murmur your first word to me - hello.
When aspiring writer and recent Brown graduate Guinevere Beck strides into the bookstore where Joe works, he’s instantly smitten. Beck is everything Joe has ever wanted: she's gorgeous, tough, razor-smart, and sexy beyond his wildest dreams. Joe needs to have her, and he'll stop at nothing to do so. As he begins to insinuate himself into her life - her friendships, her email, her phone - she can’t resist her feelings for a guy who seems custom-made for her. So when her boyfriend, Benji, mysteriously disappears, Beck and Joe fall into a tumultuous affair. But there's more to Beck than her oh-so-perfect façade, and their mutual obsession quickly spirals into a whirlwind of deadly consequences.
Dark, masterful, and timely, debut novelist Caroline Kepnes' You is a perversely romantic thriller that's more dangerously clever than any you've heard before. A chilling account of unrelenting passion, this tale of love, sex, and death will stay with you long after the story ends.

PERFORMANCE MADE THIS
The novel itself is excellent, however Santino Fontana pushed the book and made it just that bit creepier. Absolute chills to hear Joe actually whispering these evil things into your ear, and somehow when the time is right can he sound truly happy. Going into this audiobook I worried the voice acting would ruin the novel but it made it so much better. Highly suggest two earbuds to get that spine-chilling experience

Creepy in an entertaining way most of the time
Great start ! All from the male's point of view and his inner monologue is entertaining. I was hooked at the beginning and the things he did kinda made sense in some weird way and you started rooting for him in some weird way.
Then he started being less entertaining - found myself rolling my eyes more or yelling at him to make a better decision. The ending was not satisfying but I guess you knew where it was going to go eventually.
Great narrator !

All the stars
This book is incredible. I've read it before but listening to the narrator read it... Game changing. He does such an incredible job of bringing the characters to life.

not my usual read\ audiobook but glad I gave it a shot
this book is honestly a ride from start to finish. there are times that are slow but so much is revealed in those slow moments the way Joe things is unhinged but sometimes you see the logic. it's fascinating to know the inner monologue and then to see the actions that are taken as a result of it. started the series less than a month ago and I'm already on book four. there's definitely addiction in the drama and suspense.
I find the narrator easy to listen to as well, if and if you're like me and sometimes the way a book is narrated can can affect whether or not you enjoy listen to it.

extremely creepy
A disturbing "love" tale. Kepnes takes all of the things we passively absorb in Rom Coms and exposes them as dysfunctional and toxic. Joe is the ultimate untrustworthy narrator as the story is entirely from his twisted point of view. It's a little bit Lolita, a little bit The Collector, but from a pop-culture perspective. What is most disturbing is that you will find yourself rooting for Joe and feeling bad for him in spite of all his horrifically inexcusable actions.

A Good Disappointment
This story sucked me in at the very start, especially with the excellent performance by Santino Fontana. I was, however, expecting a twist at one point and was a bit let down by the predictable ending. Still a creepy experience visiting the thought processes of a serial killer/stalker.

I enjoyed the story.
The narrator, Santino Fontana, was the perfect voice for this audiobook. He was excellent! With that said, I would say the tv series "YOU" is better than the book. The book is good, but the storyline is much better in the first season of "YOU." I will eventually listen to part 2 of this book.

Joe Goldberg is like Amazing Amy of Gone Girl who believes in love.
