I set out to be a writer when I was 16, editing and publishing a pirate magazine at school. I started sending out my work in the late 1970s, earned my first cheque (for £9, or $14) in 1986, and got my first book commission in 1993, for a company history. Since then I've written 25 books, 200 TV scripts, numerous articles and stories but only as recently as 2017 published my first novel, Cody The Medicine Man and Me. Although I have made a living as a writer for 20-some years, I have had over 50 jobs since I started work at age 14. That history is the subject of my new book (Writer: Must Have Experience), just completed and on my publisher's desk. As well as my writing, I am interested in hiking, gardening, food, and some travel, notably to western USA.
