Alex Shlenski (1956 - still kicking) was born in Moscow, Russia (that time, USSR) to Russian / Jewish parents. His original Russian name is Александр Шлёнский. Alex grew up in the provincial city of Ryazan in the communist era at the time of Brezhnev's ruling. After his graduation from Ryazan medical university, Alex worked in a mental asylum for senior people as a psychiatrist. Then he changed his career path, becoming first a psychology scientist and finally, a software engineer. In 1998 he came to the United States on a work Visa for professionals with extraordinary abilities, to take a role of a software consultant. Later he got his U.S. citizenship and moved to Florida. Alex has written 56 novels and stories in his native language. His name and his books are well recognized by Russian readers. He switched to writing in English a couple of years ago. Alex still works full time as a senior software engineer in Boca Raton, FL. During his life he worked as a medical doctor, a janitor and a night guard in a kindergarten, a piano player in a circus, a scientist, a personal consultant of a Russian mafioso, a dog breeder, a server in an ice cream cafe, a bulldozer operator, a singer in a restaurant, a business analyst, but most and foremost, a software engineer. Alex writes mostly in the postmodern style. His stories fascinate readers with a well thought mix of elegant cynicism, romanticism, deep phylosophy and dry sarcastic humor.
