Alicia Hurtt has a rich background and heritage that have played a significant role in shaping her into the woman she is today. With deep roots in Trinidad and Tobago as well as Barbados, Alicia’s upbringing instilled in her a profound appreciation for family, community, and faith. Growing up in Landover, Maryland, surrounded by a close-knit family, she was raised with values that emphasized hard work, determination, and perseverance. Her parents, both immigrants from Trinidad & Tobago, consistently encouraged her to pursue her dreams with passion and dedication, especially through the power of education.
Navigating life as a Black woman in America, Alicia faced numerous challenges. As a first-generation college student, she battled societal and personal obstacles but remained committed to her goals. These experiences helped mold her into a resilient woman with a strong sense of purpose. Today, she is a successful businesswoman, mother, and community leader, using her rich heritage and lived experiences to provide guidance and support to others, whether it’s in real estate, ministry, or community service.
One of Alicia’s most profound personal journeys was her path to motherhood. Early in her adult life, she dreamt of becoming a mother, expecting that it would come easily. However, after several years of trying to conceive, Alicia and her husband discovered that the road to parenthood would be far more challenging than anticipated. The journey was filled with emotional highs and lows as they tried various methods, both natural and medical, to start their family. Despite moments of heartbreak, Alicia’s faith never wavered.
Leaning on her relationship with God and the support of her loved ones, Alicia found the strength to persevere. Her journey required patience, self-reflection, and a steadfast belief that her time would come. Finally, after years of trials, prayers, and unwavering hope, Alicia was blessed with a beautiful baby girl. This journey of faith and resilience has shaped her into the woman she is today, teaching her the importance of trust, patience, and the power of perseverance.

Her book candidly details the emotional rollercoaster of trying to conceive, with the hope of bringing comfort to those walking the same path.
