Arthur Goldhammer is a writer, scholar, and translator. He has translated more than 120 books from the French, in many genres, for which he has won numerous awards, including the Florence Gould Translation Prize of the French-American Foundation (four times), the Lewis Galantière Prize of the American Translators Association, and the Médaille de Vermeil of the Académie Française. He is an Officer of the French Order of Arts and Letters and an affiliate of the Center for European Studies at Harvard University, where he chairs the seminar for visiting scholars. He also holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from MIT.
