Reaping the benefits of early retirement, I tried my hand at watercolour painting; which enabled me to cover a few of the cracks in the internal walls of chez Johnson. Then turning my hand to cooking, I've produced culinary delights which could be described as probably edible. Literature was next on my list, so the 'CAPTAIN SHOELACE' stories came into being. My first book was 'Seasonal Mayhem', and after that I was encouraged, by people who really should know better, to do a sequel. Consequently, 'CAPTAIN SHOELACE Phoenix' came into being. The final story in the Captain Shoelace trilogy is 'CAPTAIN SHOELACE Secrets', which rounds things off nicely. Well, at least I think so! All three books appear at a discounted overall price in 'CAPTAIN SHOELACE TRILOGY'. 'Chicken Lababdar' was a contemporary collection of short stories. After adding a few extra stories, I later republished this book under the title 'Twelve Eclectic Tales'. Following on from that I switched genres by writing a thriller titled 'Deserved To Die'. It took me 15 months to bang this one out. In January 2018 'One Sin Follows Another' was published. Based on The Seven Deadly Sins, each of the seven individually themed chapters follow-on from the previous one, culminating in an unexpected twist. January 2019 saw the publication of 'My Very First Murder', a short story where neither the name of the victim or perpetrator are revealed. Interesting, or at least I think so! Following this, 'My Very Second Murder' and 'My Very Third Murder' just had to be done. By the end of March 2019 I'd set the wheels in motion to produce some audiobooks. The 'Murder' trilogy and 'Captain Shoelace Seasonal Mayhem' being my choices for this new adventure. My short story 'The Experiment' has proved to be quite popular. So much so that a complimentary story titled 'The Waverley Staveley Experiment' should be published (kindle only) in August 2024. I love writing, and once started the words just spill out, so I can't image what 'writers block' might be! My wife is also pleased that I'm writing, because I can't talk to her whilst I'm doing so. We live in London, and have two children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The latter three make life quite hectic. So much so that I suspect they have conspired to terrorise me. Not that I would want it otherwise!
