Caroline Arnold is the author of more than 170 books for children. She writes both fiction and nonfiction and has recently illustrated some of her books with striking cut paper art. Her newest books are PLANTING A GARDEN IN ROOM 6: From Seeds to Salad and KEEPER OF THE LIGHT: Juliet Fish Nichols Fights the San Francisco Fog. Other recent titles include BUTTERFLIES IN ROOM 6, HATCHING CHICKS IN ROOM 6, LIVING FOSSILS: Clues to the Past, A DAY AND NIGHT IN THE DESERT, A WARMER WORLD, TOO HOT? TOO COLD? and many more. Her fiction books include WIGGLE AND WAGGLE, a collection of five stories for beginning readers, and THE TERRIBLE HODAG AND THE ANIMAL CATCHERS, a tall tale. Caroline's interest in animals and the out-of-doors began when she was a child growing up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After majoring in art and literature at Grinnell College in Iowa, she received her M.A. in art from the University of Iowa. Some of her books are illustrated with her own art and some with her own photographs. Caroline lives in Los Angeles and Oakland, California. Fun facts about Caroline Arnold: –tried to read all the books in the public library when she was in fifth grade. (She missed a few.) –loves to travel and has been to all the continents of the world except Antarctica. –is an avid bird-watcher, and writes about condors, sparrows, ostriches, penguins, and even chickens. --grew up in a settlement house with her parents, who were social workers, and her three younger brothers. –likes to play tennis, work in her garden, watch movies, and spend time with her friends and family.
