Charlie Webster’s Why It’s Ok to Talk About Trauma is the book she needed when she was desperately searching for help and for something that she could relate to. Charlie is an award-winning broadcaster, journalist, writer, campaigner, documentarian/producer and international speaker. She gave a TED talk on rethinking Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and is an ambassador for the NSPCC, Women’s Aid and Malaria No More leading campaigns with David Beckham and working with the Global Fund and the UN. Charlie has covered global events for major networks including BBC and Sky, from the Olympic and Paralympic Games and FIFA World Cup’s to exclusive in-depth interviews of superstars and world leaders. She has gained unrivalled access to famous and infamous individuals alike, and bravely speaks Truth to Power. She is the host and creator of global no 1 hit podcast Scamanda, award-winning podcast Surviving El Chapo with 50 Cent and Died and Survived which she won one gold for at the New York Radio Awards. Charlie made her powerful documentary “Nowhere to Run: Abused by our coach” broadcast on the BBC that led to a change in UK law, and international policy. She is an inspirational voice for survivors, and a leading authority on safeguarding. Charlie provides expert advice and keynotes. She has spoken on behalf of the United Nations Foundation, to the United States Senate, successive British Governments and at the World Athletics Congress on safeguarding in sport. In 2016, Charlie took on the epic challenge of cycling 3000 miles in 4 weeks from London to Rio for charity, which she successfully completed but then immediately fell critically ill ahead of hosting the Rio Games contracting malaria and 3 other tropical diseases. She was given 24 hours to live and put on life support in a coma. Surviving, with doctors calling her ‘a miracle.’ Charlie will often be found nipping out for a run or with her nose in a book. She studied schema psychotherapy and continually pursues her interest in behavioural psychology.
