Cheryl Potter's love for knitting began at age eight when she created a lime green-and-yellow striped T-shirt with a sparkle yarn. Her passion for writing followed soon thereafter. Working part time for various yarn shops, she knit her way through Middlebury College in Vermont. After earning her master of fine arts degree at the University of Arizona, Cheryl returned to Vermont and founded a hand-painted yarn company called Cherry Tree Hill, the name of her mountaintop farm. In an old milk house, she dyed and designed wearable art garments until she was discovered by Interweave Knits magazine in 1997. Cherry Tree Hill yarns are now sold in hundreds of stores all over the world, and Cheryl's work regularly appears in magazines and catalogs, as well as on television. Today she is best known for her innovative colorways, painted on a variety of natural and synthetic fibers. Combining her love of fiber arts with her passion for writing, Cheryl began working on the Potluck Yarn Trilogy—a YA crossover fantasy series that follows the adventures of a dynamic group of diverse characters who are often aided by magical garments. While The Broken Circle and Secrets of the Lost Caves (books 1 and 2) are universally appealing to all fantasy readers, they also have the unique benefit of feature patterns for each of the magical garments introduced throughout the stories. And true to her commitment to educating readers, each book has a student/teacher reading guide with thematic discussion prompts, vocabulary words, and critical reading and analytical reasoning questions. Cheryl lives in Vermont where she runs Cherry Tree Hill Yarn, hosts retreats, and continues to work on book 3. For more information and interactive resources, visit www.potluckyarn.com.
