Christina M. Pages: Winner of the 2017 Children's Literary Classics Eloquent Quill Award for Lucy in her Secret Wood!
Christina M. 's children's novel, Lucy in her Secret Wood (A Story Inspired by Wordsworth's Wild Child Lucy Gray) (see under Books) is one of ten finalists in the 2022 Screencraft Cinematic Book Contest in Hollywood, entered by hundreds. It has also won the Top Honors award from Literary Classics -- The Eloquent Quill Award -- which is given once a year for an outstanding work of Youth Fiction. This novel has also won Literary Classics' Gold Award, Readers' Favorites' Silver Award,and four other awards (see below).
Her second book in the Lucy Series -- The Woodland Adventures of Lucy and Will -- was released in July 2018.
Her art and poetry Gift Book, Nostalgia: Poetry and Paintings of Beauty, Love and Loss was released in 2018. This book combines her short poems with paintings. Her painted scenes match the mood and content of her poems.
Another of her children's chapter book: Luke Saves the Turtles, containing sixteen of her paintings, was released in 2018.
Christina M. Pages, a native of England, moved to America in her twenties, and raised four children while studying for her Ph.D. in English and American literature. Her poetry, children's books, and landscape painting all grew out of the nostalgia for her tree-climbing, rambling childhood growing up in the fields of Kent. She was California State Poetry Society's 19th Annual Contest Winner in 2005 and was given a publication award from the International Society of Poetry for her first collection of poetry, "Shadow Words" (Watermark Press, 2006). Some of her poems from her second collection "Remember Not to Forget" (Summerland Publishing, 2013) were nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She recently won first place in the 2017 Ventura Writing Contest.

"Lucy's step-father didn't like her. In fact, he called her Nuisance. Never Lucy, just Nuisance. He even locked her in her bedroom, not allowing her outside. It was like a prison. So when her step-father took her deep into the woods and left her there, Lucy felt like she had just been set free. Just like the trees and the meadow full of wildflowers, even the fresh running brook - Lucy was now free. She was no longer afraid because she knew that the woods would take care of her. And it did, as did Will, a boy just little older than Lucy, who befriended her and brought her much needed supplies of food.
All was well in Lucy's world until others discovered that she was living alone in the woods. The police came and took her away. They tried to convince her that it was for her own good. The woods was not a safe place, or so they said. But Lucy knew better. And so did Will. When Lucy was trapped in an orphanage, Will found her and helped her realize that she, Lucy, the Wild Child as he called her, needed the woods as much as the woods needed her.
This story is absolutely beautifully written, tender and compassionate. I haven't read such a touching story since my mother gave me a copy of Gene Stratton-Porter's A Girl of the Limberlost. Christina M.
