Born Paris, 8 November 1954, David Bret is Britain's foremost authority on the French chanson, and a leading celebrity biographer and broadcaster. His first book, "The Piaf Legend", was published to huge critical acclaim in 1988, since which time he has published over forty books, most of them best-sellers. He has a large celebrity following. He has made over 600 radio and television appearances, and appeared in fifteen television documentaries.
