A former speechwriter and joke writer for President Barack Obama, David Litt is The New York Times bestselling author of "Thanks Obama: My Hopey Changey White House Years" and "Democracy in One Book or Less." Described as "the comic muse for the president" for his work on President Obama's White House Correspondents' Dinner monologues, Litt's writing has appeared in the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, GQ, and The Onion, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, and Cosmo, among others. Litt is also the former head writer/producer for Funny Or Die D.C. and has written comedy pilots for Comedy Central, ABC, and NBC. Litt's newest book, "It's Only Drowning," a memoir about learning to surf with his Joe Rogan superfan brother-in-law, will be published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, on June 24th, 2025. David splits his time between Washington, DC and Asbury Park, NJ with his wife, Jacqui, their cats, Harry and Maisie, and their dog, Emily.
