Deva Joy Gouss, LCSW, is a psychotherapist in private practice in Atlanta for over thirty years. She was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at fourteen years old and called it "Arthur," which became her diving board into personal growth and healing. Her experiences with "Arthur" as well as the experience of multiple losses of loved ones and an underlying endless grief about the way humans hurt earth and all of her inhabitants has led to powerful transformations for herself and others. As a therapist, she facilitate many people in individual and group psychotherapy settings and frequently offers experiential workshops. Author of the book, Toolbox of Hope; For When Your Body Doesn't Feel Good is the workbook that she would have wanted as a child and is now distributed internationally. Based on the workbook, she has given many workshops at national conferences for children who live with illness and disability and their parents. Because she is such an inspiration to others in how she lives with "Arthur," she made a six minute video of a performance art piece titled "Living With Arthur," which can be found on Youtube and Vimeo. If you want to learn more about the book or see the video, you can go to www.toolboxofhope.com. Also, she is the author of Re-arranged, Never the Same; The Nature of Grief. This book is based on her personal experiences with grief as well as her psychotherapy work with bereaved clients. The book takes an unusual approach, as it thoroughly explores the many aspects of grieving as well as the possibility of being in a current relationship with loved ones who have departed, based on her own experience with her mother.
