Dick Camp served as a Marine officer for 26 years before retiring in 1988. He was a company commander (L 3/26)1967-68 in Vietnam with the 3rd Marine Division along the DMZ and Khe Sanh. After retiring, Dick spent 16 years in Cincinnati, where he was employed as a school district business manager. Upon retirement, he became the Deputy Director of the Marine Corps' History Division and then Marine Corps Heritage Foundation's VP for Museum Operations at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. He has published more than 150 military oriented articles for various magazines, including Leatherneck, Marine Corps Gazette, Vietnam Magazine, World War II and Naval Institute Press. Dick is also the author of 14 books: Lima 6, A Marine Company Commander in Vietnam; Leatherneck Legends, Conversations with the Marine Corps' Old Breed; Iwo Jima Recon, The U.S. Navy at War, February 17, 1945; Battleship Arizona's Marine at War, Making the Ultimate Sacrifice, December 7, 1941; Devil Dogs at Belleau Woods; Last Man Standing, the 1st Marine Regiment on Peleliu; Operation Phantom Fury, The Assault and Capture of Fallujah, Iraq; Boots on the Ground: The Fight to Liberate Afghanistan from Al-Qaeda and the Taliban 2001-2004; Assault from the Sky, U.S. Marine Helicopter Operations in Vietnam; Shadow Warriors, The Untold Stories of American Special Operations During WW II; Echo Among Warriors (E-Book); Storming the Point (E-Book); and The Killing Ground (E-Book). He is an accomplished speaker on military history topics. He had been a presenter at the Gettysburg National Park Service's World War II Weekend; Williams burg's Military History Weekend, The Basic School, Command and Staff College, U.S. Marine Corps, Quantico, Va; Army Navy Club, Washington, D.C. and has been a "talking head" for an episode of Discovery Channel dealing with (Operation Phantom Fury, Fallujah, Iraq). Camp lives in Fredericksburg, Va.
