Donna Alice Patton is a freelance writer living in rural Ohio. Her writing credits include articles in Reminisce, Mature Living, Lady's Circle, Catholic Digest, History Magazine, etc. With two other writers, she is the co-editor of "Cookies and Milk," a monthly page for children syndicated in many Ohio counties. Her writing has spanned everything from press releases for an autistic society, judging contests and writing game clues. Writing for children is one of her favorite pasttimes. Reading children's books is a close second. The Search for the Madonna is a historical mystery set in the 1930's. "I always wanted to write a book set during the Depression and have a main character who kept a Dionne Quintuplet scrapbook." One of her longtime interests has been in collecting Dionne Quintuplet memorabilia. "I have a scrapbook, kept by a school girl, the newspaper pictures are glued into a composition book. My character of Maggie is based on the girl I imagined kept the scrapbook." The other starting point for the book was a legend about the Brandenburg family - Donna's great-great grandparents from Bavaria. "There was a family castle and a fortune in jewels. What happened to it is anyone's guess." A sequel to The Search for the Madonna is in the works. Another book series - Tales from a Garden of Mysteries - will debut this fall. The first book in the series - The Gift of a Summer Snow, A Tale from the Garden of Mysteries, will hit bookshelves soon. Each book in the proposed series features a garden and a mystery. The first book features the world of competitive flower growing and a mysterious rose snatcher. Book two revolves around the world of the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair and the excitement of giant pumpkin growing. When she isn't reading or writing, Donna enjoys gardening, sewing, watching reruns of Perry Mason, traveling or ferreting out some hidden fact for research.
