Dr. Myke Merrill has been a pastor and biblical scholar for nearly 50 years. Using his expertise in biblical Koiné Greek, he has translated all of the New Testament, and has taught that language at the collegiate and professional levels. His new book, Experiencing Revelation: The Tragedy and Comedy of the Life of Jesus, presents an entirely fresh perspective on the usually mysterious and often frightening book of Revelation. John, last of the first generation of Christian believers, wrote the essential story of Jesus as a three-act, apocalyptic-genre dramatic play. Dr. Myke’s book Experiencing Revelation has three parts. First, a dramatic script shows how a patron in one of the majestic Greco-Roman theaters of the cities of Asia Minor could have experienced the story of Jesus: his human birth, his human death, his physical resurrection and his return with the Father in the Spirit to create the living community of Jesus. Second, a complete word-for-word translation preserves the Koiné Greek original meanings in understandable English. Third, a glossary of 82 vital words and phrases enables the serious student of Scripture to dig deeply into the hidden treasures of the original language. Dr. Myke has also worked as an educator, an executive, an author, a small business owner, and a craftsman. He has a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Myke earned a Master’s of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary with academic honors, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Northeastern Seminary with his dissertation, “The Five Basic Emotions: A New Systems Approach.” He has written 27 books and resources for local training and instructional purposes. His book Why Do People Act That Way? (And What Can I Do About It?) is also available on Amazon, KDP and Audible.
