Engineer by day, writer by night. Fiona was born in Edinburgh, and grew up playing guitar, riding motorbikes and jumping into cold water (never at the same time). After studying Chemical Engineering at University she learned to weld, cast and machine with apprentices in Paisley before working internationally as a professional engineer. She is now based in the north east of England. Her mystery memoir, Phosphate Rocks: A Death in Ten Objects is first published by Sandstone Press in 2021, is now republished by Snickered Mole who also publish her latest book: Losing Control (2024) Fiona's spicy engineering thriller series, first published in UK by Point Blank (Oneworld), starts with The Chemical Detective (2019), (shortlisted for the Specsavers Debut Crime Novel Award) and is followed by The Chemical Reaction (2020) (shortlisted for the Staunch Prize), The Chemical Cocktail (2022) and The Chemical Code (2023).
