A native New Yorker, Frances Susanne Brown was born in Brooklyn, and grew up in Middletown, N.Y. She is a multi-published writer of both nonfiction and fiction, including personal essays, historical magazine features, short stories, and novels, as well as being an accomplished memoirist. Her memoir was born in the process of achieving her MFA from Lesley University. "Maternal Threads" is a memoir of discovery, a journey to explore her maternal heritage, and reveals a complex, mysterious relationship between herself, her mother, her aunt, and her daughter.
