George Hatcher might have risen from the LA back streets, but he runs with the big dogs. His Mario series established him as a raunchy moralist; he explores behind the closed doors of a profession few have known as well as he does. Mario Luna is an entirely fictional character. He runs with high-priced lawyers, mobsters and glitterati in a high-end, high-living, high-profile clique. Mario is a jet-setting power broker with an inside view of an infamous hidden world few people know exists. Author George Hatcher was raised in Douglas, Arizona, and started working at the tender age of seven with a paper route for the Douglas Dispatch until he moved to Los Angeles at nine. From that humble beginning, he has stockpiled the varied array of experience that informs his novels. And such a career! In boxing, he was an advisor to advisors. Then a boxing manager himself. Janitor; Red Arrow delivery guy; stockboy; air-conditioning & refrigeration apprentice; auto body & painting shops owner; trucking business; restauranteur; residential and apartment owner/landlord; general building contractor; band agent; copier distributor; fresh fish distributor; canned abalone distributor; export consultant to Mexican food manufacturers; owner of two pre-home depo builders supply stores; Computrak office management software owner/developer; urgent care medical facilities manager; founder of Mobile MRI; founder of LA Receivables; distributor of USA food products to Kuwait, physicians’ new patient developer; attorneys’ new client development consultant; attorney’s client maintenance. The list goes on, but you get the idea. One Wilshire was published in 1992 by Pretty Face Books, then Ashley Books, a fictionalization of about twenty years of his life that he has said he would like to forget. He is rewriting that book and developing a series of memoirs. His twitter author account @chaserambulance has a George Bernard Shaw quote along that vein: “If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance.” His other twitter account is @GeorgeHatcher. As a marketing strategist,he is skilled at bridging the gap between business and client. He has seen dramatic--and some terrible--situations which may or may not be inspiration for his fiction. As a novelist, he is a mesmerizing storyteller who ventures into steamy territory when the story wants it. "In Woman in Jeopardy, I was writing the story of an entirely different character," Hatcher says. "I was writing about Mario, but I kept pushing the clock back and back, until his Aunt Carmen came to life and took over. Then Mario was born, and he has taken the wheel."
