Gil Capps is an Emmy-award winning sports media professional. His first book -- THE MAGNIFICENT MASTERS: Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, Tom Weiskopf and the 1975 Cliffhanger at Augusta -- was published by Da Capo Press in spring 2014. Capps has spent his entire career in the golf media business and worked on-site at more than 600 tournaments around the world. For three decades, he has been a member of NBC's golf team sitting in the main tower and providing editorial content and direction to its broadcasts and announcers such as Johnny Miller, Dan Hicks, and Dick Enberg. Golf World magazine called him "arguably the least-known important figure in golf television.” In the past, he served as statistician for USA Sports' PGA Tour coverage and contributed to numerous broadcasts on other networks, working nearly 20 Masters Tournaments. Capps was also charged with building the ground-breaking Editorial Research Unit at Golf Channel where his department was responsible for research material, editorial standards, and content development across all of the company's platforms. He began his career by founding Metrolina Golf Magazine and serving as its publisher and editor.
