I was raised with Shetland ponies; riding and show. I bought my first "big" horse (Nan) when I was 21. She was 21 too and already pregnant with a little filly that would become the equine love of my life for 25 years; her name was Jetta. Jetta's daughter (Libby) passed after 19 years, but her daughter (Kit) is in my pasture. So, I have had the honor of having four generations of mares to love and live with. Within days of participating and photographing a friend's cattle drive, I dreamt of the original concept of the first Tagger Herd book; a family getting a call about starving horses. I could not get the story out of my head. I thought of it constantly. So, thinking it would help, I wrote it down. I've still been writing it down for years now and plan to continue because I love the Tagger world that has been born and grown in my imagination. It is a world I would love to live in, with people I would love to call my friends and family (well, most of them anyway). I self-published because I wanted the stories out there now for my family and friends to enjoy. Publishers can also have you change characters or location settings and there was no way I was going to adjust my Tagger family, and it was staying in Idaho! There is no sex and cussing in The Tagger Herd series because I want this to be a family series that a granddaughter, mother, and grandmother (sons, fathers, and brothers too!) can all read, share, and discuss without being uncomfortable. I succeeded in that. My first stand-alone book "Hoofbeats in the Wind" was a true journey. I love this novel and the characters. Coffee With Cowboys brought a whole new set of friends. I honestly did more research on this book than writing, and considering the size, that is saying something! It is truly two books in one. The concept was to tell both sides of the story (competitors and stock contractors), and I didn't want to shorten either story, so it came out as one big book. Bijou Bay was different but fun to write. I love the journey in the book. I didn't start as a way to make money, and I may never have a rich bank account, but I have become rich in friendships.
