Born in Texas and raised on the sunny beaches of North Carolina, J.L. Davis has a strong work ethic and a resilient nature. His financial journey started when he was just twelve years old. He helped his father paint houses and harvest oysters from the family oyster garden in the NC Intercoastal Waterway to earn money to spend. After working his way through college, he graduated with honors with a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering from NC State University. Throughout his career, he achieved remarkable success, starting as a software engineer and ending as a Chief Operating Officer, leading the overall operations and financial management of several leading tech companies, including buying and selling of companies for many years. Despite these accomplishments, he encountered many challenges. He made several mistakes on his financial journey and knows firsthand the dangers and rewards of mismanaging finances. He's been in the trenches of student loans and credit card debt. He's managed millions of dollars internationally and understands just how important a strong financial foundation is. Fortunately, he had mentors who could guide him in navigating the complexities of personal and organizational finance, allowing him to learn good money management skills while young, which fueled his early retirement. Today, J.L. is has been happily married for 25 years, and is the proud father of three sons. He actively guides them down their own paths to financial success and independence. His books are one way he's capturing that journey to share with teens and young adults everywhere. J.L. is eager to share his knowledge with the next generation to help them accelerate their own path to financial independence. He believes that financial freedom is not an impossible dream.
