A first-generation college graduate with a BA from Yale University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, Jaime is currently the Associate Chair and Counselor of the Democratic National Committee. He previously served as the Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, the first African American to hold the position. Hailing from Orangeburg, SC, Jaime was raised by his grandparents and young mom, and began working in politics while in high school. In 1994, he was selected to the United States Senate Youth Program and while in college he interned with Senator Fritz Hollings and served as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation intern for Congressman James Clyburn. Jaime was also a participant in the inaugural class of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute Political Bootcamp. Jaime would later go on to become the youngest person and first African American to serve as executive director of the U.S. House Democratic Caucus. In 2007, Jaime went on to serve as counsel and Director of Floor Operations for former House Majority Whip James Clyburn. Following his time on Capitol Hill, Jaime moved to the private sector and served as a Principal at the Podesta Group, overseeing the firm’s transportation practice. Jaime has been recognized as one of Roll Call’s Fabulous 50 staffers on Capitol Hill, The Hill’s “35 Stellar Staffers Under 35,” one of the National Bar Association and IMPACT’s “Top 40 lawyers under 40” and honored in the Root 100 black influencers under 45. Before entering politics, Jaime worked in education serving as chief operations officer and director of program development for the College Summit, a national nonprofit organization that assists low-income students enroll in college. Jaime also taught ninth grade social studies at his high school alma mater, Orangeburg-Wilkinson High. Harrison has regularly appeared as a political guest and commentator on CNN and MSNBC. Jaime also hosted a YouTube based web series called Chair Chats that featured interviews with prominent national and local Democratic political figures.
