James B. Conroy is an award-winning author of narrative history. A graduate of the University of Connecticut and the Georgetown University Law Center, Conroy has been a trial lawyer in Boston for 37 years, having first worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. as a House and Senate press secretary, speechwriter, and chief of staff and served for six years in the United States Navy reserve as a Navy photographer and journalist in antisubmarine aviation units. Active in town affairs in Hingham, Massachusetts on Boston's South Shore, he has chaired the town's Advisory Committee, its Government Study Committee and its Task Force on Affordability and coached youth sports teams. He currently serves as a member of the town's Historical Commission. He and his wife, Lynn Conroy, have two grown children, a daughter in law, and three grandchildren.
