Joel Morris is one of Britain’s busiest and most respected comedy writers, working on everything from Charlie Brooker’s Wipe shows, the Philomena Cunk series and A Touch Of Cloth to Murder In Successville, Miranda, and the hit Paddington films. Joel co-created the 5-million-plus selling Ladybird Books For Grown-Ups series which at one point occupied eight of the top ten hardback bestseller slots. He also co-created the cult humour hit The Framley Examiner (“The funniest book ever” according to Simpsons showrunner Josh Weinstein) and co-wrote the bestselling British travel guides Bollocks To Alton Towers (“One of the best guide books ever written” The Guardian). His book Be Funny Or Die, about the craft and science of comedy, exploring what makes humans make other humans laugh, was described by Caitlin Moran as ‘The ultimate Ted Talk on comedy.’ Joel has won BAFTA, RTS, Sony and Broadcast Awards for his TV and radio writing, and put words in the mouths of everyone from Mitchell & Webb and Flight of The Conchords to Armstrong & Miller, Kevin Eldon and Peter Serafinowicz. Joel is behind the award winning Rule of Three podcast about the craft of comedy writing (winner, best arts and culture podcast British Podcast Awards 2020) and Comfort Blanket, the hit podcast where guests choose the pop culture favourite that never lets them down. He also produces Brian & Roger, the podcast sitcom described by The Telegraph as the ‘best thing happening in comedy right now’.
