John Smith was born in 1982 in Portland, Oregon. From an early age, John exhibited a profound interest in architecture and construction. At the age of 14, he completed his first building project, constructing a small treehouse in his backyard. Upon graduating from high school at 19, John embarked on a career as a carpenter, working for various local construction firms. Over this period, he accumulated extensive experience in residential and commercial projects across Oregon, Washington, and California. With more than 15 years of industry experience, John recognized that traditional construction methods often fell short of his aspirations for eco-friendly and sustainable housing solutions. In 2017, he made a pivotal decision to focus exclusively on sustainable construction, with a mission to make green housing options more accessible and mainstream. John's vision is to advocate for sustainability and to demonstrate that it is possible to live in a manner that is both responsible and environmentally conscious. Currently, John dedicates his time to training individuals and companies interested in sustainable and off-grid housing solutions. He has been involved in numerous container home projects, mastering every detail of the process, from insulation and flooring to exterior siding, kitchens, and bathrooms. In his free time, John enjoys spending quality time with his family, which includes his wife Emily and their two children, Noah and Lily. He is also an avid outdoorsman, appreciating activities such as hiking and camping, and he takes great pleasure in hosting barbecue dinners for friends. John's book offers a comprehensive collection of expertise and practical advice for creating your own container home, with a particular emphasis on high-quality craftsmanship and meticulous construction details.
