Joshua Senter was raised in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri where he was homeschooled on a cattle farm. After graduating with honors from Art Center College of Design, he began writing for the groundbreaking TV series The L Word. Next, he spent three seasons on the international phenomenon Desperate Housewives. During his tenure, the series won both Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, and Joshua was nominated for a Writer’s Guild of America Award. While working on Freeform’s Chasing Life and MTV’s Finding Cater, he was placed on the Tracking Board’s Young and Hungry List as one of The Top 100 Writer’s Working In Hollywood. Soon after, a Valentine’s Day movie he co-wrote for Freeform, The Thing About Harry, was nominated for GLAAD’s Outstanding TV Movie Award. In the midst of the pandemic, Senter turned his attention to writing a piece of literary fiction titled Still The Night Call. It was self-published in January 2022 and subsequently named Kirkus Reviews “Best Indie Fiction of the Year” as well as "Best Literary Fiction of 2022" by Indie Reader and Readers' Favorite. It was an Eric Hoffer Awards Honorable Mention, and went on to become an Amazon #1 New Release. In 2023 Senter’s followup piece of self-published fiction, Heaven & Earth, became a #1 Best Seller on Amazon and was named an Editor's Pick for Booklife. It was one of only 50 books selected by Publishers Weekly to represent Contemporary American Literary Voices at the 2023 International Book Fair. Heaven & Earth remained the #1 LGBT release on Ingram Spark for over 3 months. Diane Donovan of the Midwest Book Review called it, “Outstanding.” Nicola Moriarty, author of The Fifth Letter, said, “It’s brilliant!” Senter's work has been lauded for its humor, heart, and honesty. According to critics, his knack for tackling sensitive subjects and creating relatable characters and stories that resonate with modern audiences is unparalleled. Additionally, Senter is considered a role model for aspiring writers and a trailblazer for LGBTQ+ representation in Hollywood. In 2021 Joshua joined the School of Cinematic Arts at USC as an adjunct professor of TV writing to help inspire the next generation of storytellers.
