Julia Bendis was born in Ukraine and lived in Latvia. She moved to America with her family as a teenager back in 1989. Julia has been matchmaking and coaching couples for decades, and it has always been her life-long passion and purpose. Comedy has always been a big part of Julia's life as well and a reason why she wrote her first book 'No Smiling Allowed: Growing up in Soviet Russia and other funny stories from a Jewish Immigrant'. Julia is also an advocate for the less fortunate, victims of abuse, human trafficking, and anyone that is in need of support and resources. With the war in Ukraine raging on, she has volunteered her time to translate documents, help evacuate the elderly as well as secure shelter for refugees. When she isn't matchmaking or volunteering her time to the above-mentioned causes, Julia spends her time reading, dancing and creating new material for her comedy. Her Eastern European family, husband of twenty-five years and two grown sons are a big source of the above-said comedy, as well as inspiration to keep growing and learning.
