Kathryn Den Houter was born in Minneapolis Minnesota in 1947. She is passionate about writing historical fiction novels. Her first novel, "Abigail's Exchange" was a winner of the Eric Hoffer writer's contest and a semi-finalist in the Royal Palm Literary Award. She holds steadfastly to the maxim that "good stories heal." They create a cathartic cleanse for the reader. Before her writing career, she had three careers that spanned forty-five years of work. Her first career was teaching, which gave her experience in preschool, elementary, secondary, and college teaching. Her last teaching experience was as a Directress of a Montessori School. After completing a doctorate in psychology at Michigan State University, she developed a private practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her most beloved career, however was raising four beautiful children with her late husband, Len on a farm near Lowell, Michigan. Their children; Jon, Jenna, Jess and Ben now have their careers and families of their own, which opens up the wonderful world of grand-parenting. She remarried Jim in 2009, and they have been married for ten years. Currently, they live in Caledonia, Michigan to be near family. The winter months are spent in Florida near the Atlantic coast.
