Kevin Barnett, a native of Arkansas, embarked on his journey in the Behavioral and Mental Health field with a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others. Born and raised in the state, Kevin began his career as a Mental Health Tech at the Arkansas State Hospital and various facilities dedicated to symptom management for the Mental Health Population. Kevin's commitment to continuous learning led him to pursue higher education as a dual-service military veteran. He initiated his studies while stationed in South Korea and furthered his education at SEARK College upon returning to the States, earning several degrees in diverse fields of study. Seeking to deepen his understanding of psychology, Kevin enrolled in Capella University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in a remarkable two years. Eager to expand his impact, Kevin continued his academic journey at Simmons University, undertaking a Master’s in Social Work from 2016 to 2017, graduating with Cum Laude honors. His innovative time management model allowed him to complete his master's degree requirements swiftly. Kevin's dedication and expertise in the field enabled him to transition from academia to employment seamlessly. He became a Mental Health Professional (MHP), focusing on community mental health in the Delta Region and Southeastern Arkansas. Utilizing the knowledge gained from his education, Kevin implemented a successful four-year model that propelled him into Private Practice. As a Private Practice Therapist and Substance Abuse Counselor, Kevin now operates alongside his wife Monica and their children in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. With three years of private practice experience, he specializes in providing therapeutic support and counseling for common mental health challenges such as stress, frustration, depression, self-image, and anxiety. Kevin's outstanding contributions to the field were recognized in 2021 when he received the prestigious "Dr. Stephen Broughton, Sr. Mental Health Award" from the Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc—this same year marked the beginning of his private practice journey. Currently, Kevin actively collaborates with individuals in his community, addressing sensitive matters like mental health issues, substance abuse, and therapeutic support. His extensive experience and educational background empower him to coach individuals in one-to-one sessions, family meetings, and group therapy sessions, guiding them toward positive behavioral and thought patterns for a more fulfilling and rewarding life. Kevin Barnett's primary purpose is to facilitate positive change in people's lives, empowering them to navigate their circumstances and experiences with resilience and hope.
