Dr. Lane Pederson is a psychologist, award-winning author, creator of the Dialectical Trauma Recovery Model (DTRM), and internationally recognized authority in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) whose work focuses on a practical question: How do we take powerful therapeutic ideas and make them genuinely useful in the lives of real people?

He has taught more than 40,000 professionals worldwide and has provided training and consultation to organizations including the U.S. Department of Defense, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and healthcare and treatment organizations around the world though his company Lane Pederson and Associates, LLC.

Dr. Pederson is the author of several widely used books and clinical resources on DBT, including The Expanded DBT Skills Training Manual and Integrative DBT for Complex Trauma Recovery. His latest work extends DBT into the treatment of complex trauma, helping clinicians understand the different ways trauma disrupts emotional, cognitive, physical, and relational functioning and translate that understanding into targeted interventions.

As a founder of Mental Health Systems, a Minnesota-based specialty practice providing DBT and trauma-focused care, Dr. Pederson remains closely connected to clinical practice. His writing reflects that experience, emphasizing approaches that are evidence-informed, flexible, understandable, and designed to work in the complexity of everyday clinical care.
