One of the most important pop culture influencers in entertainment today, director/choreographer/artist LAURIEANN GIBSON is a force to be reckoned with. Counting numerous international superstars such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Diddy, Akon, K-pop's Big Bang, and Nicki Minaj among her clients, Gibson brings a unique brand, blending traditional artist development with movement and dance training to their collaborations. Combined with a distinctive creative eye and an artist in her own right, Gibson is one of the most sought-after creative directors and choreographers in the music and film industries today. Gibson’s debut book, Dance Your Dance: 8 Steps to Unleash Your Passion and Live Your Dream, will be published nationwide on February 16, 2021 via W Publishing, a division of HarperCollins Publishing. In the book, she shares her powerful blueprint to achieving your dreams—a blueprint she’s used to develop some of the world’s greatest music performers. Previously serving as choreographer and creative director in the Haus of Gaga, Gibson was responsible for Gaga’s artist development, as well as music videos, television appearances, and touring experiences. She was the creative visionary, director, and choreographer behind Gaga’s “The Fame Monster World Tour 2010”, receiving a 2011 Creative Emmy nomination for directing the HBO special taped at Madison Square Garden. Following her illustrious stint with Gaga, Gibson once again turned her creative juices full force with Nicki Minaj, directing and choreographing many of her performances. Minaj is now the number one female hip hop artist and one of the top female pop artists in the world. Alongside her work with Nicki, Gibson found the time to pursue her own artistic and musical endeavors, encouraging a broad demographic to follow their own dreams and become dream warriors in a world where hope and love stands for change. A classically trained dancer, Gibson studied at the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Company, seguing from traditional theater dance to hip-hop with breakout artist Mary J. Blige. From her success there, Gibson made the leap from dancer to choreographer for Motown and Bad Boy Records where she worked with such celebrated names as the Notorious B.I.G., Puffy, Faith Evans, and Missy. She has also worked with musical greats Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, and Beyoncé. For film, she choreographed for “Alfie”, starring Sienna Miller and Jude Law, and for “Honey”, which was a film loosely based on Gibson’s own life, starring Jessica Alba and Lil’ Romeo. For “Beyond the Lights”, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Gibson not only lent her choreography skills but her artist development prowess to bring the character of “Noni” to life as a believable modern-day pop star. Over the years, Gibson’s experience and expertise in developing artists; performance skills, along with her choreography and creative insight, have seen her work from inception to star status to choreographing and directing world tours for some of today's biggest pop acts. In addition, Gibson choreographed and directed commercials for such iconic brands as Pepsi and Google, and choreographed an interactive video game, “The Hip Hop Dance Experience”. Gibson’s entry into reality TV began in 2005 as the choreographer for MTV’s hit television show “Making the Band”, where her signature moves were viewed by millions of fans for three seasons. Since then, she has appeared as a judge on the MTV series, “Starmaker”, “Skating with the Stars” for ABC, as choreographer on “So You Think You Can Dance”, and as judge on Global TV’s “Canada Sings 2”. Gibson starred in E! Network’s “Dance Scene” and on BET’s “Born To Dance”, for which she also served as Executive Producer. She was a celebrity judge on Tru TV’s “Fake OFF Season 2”, and was featured in the documentary “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story” starring Diddy. Gibson continues her own artistic pursuits to work alongside today’s rising and established stars as a creative director, choreographer, director, and in artist development. Gibson has creative directed Nicki Minaj’s sold out Pink Print World Tour (2015) and the Bad Boy 20th Anniversary Reunion Tour (2016). In 2018 and 2019, Gibson was a consulting producer and choreographer on the FOX TV show “The Four” (seasons one and two) alongside Diddy, Fergie, DJ Khalid, and Meghan Trainor. Gibson also starred in a docuseries for Lifetime, “Beyond The Spotlight”, that followed her as she built and shaped her company into one of the most sought-after brands in the world – all while trying to maintain some semblance of a personal life. Gibson choreographed Spike Lee’s NBC Super Bowl Promo Commercial, starring Jennifer Lopez, Ted Danzig, Marlon Wayans, Heidi Klum, and many more. 2020 has been a rollercoaster of a year for the entire world and the entertainment industry. Gibson continues to break new ground in her field by creating various virtual experiences such as “The Virtual DreamWarrior” and the “Virtual Make Me Dance Experience”. The “Virtual DreamWarrior” takes an aspiring artist from around the world and injects them into an online artist development workshop where they learn to tap into their authentic artistry. Also, Gibson’s artist developing an army of young talented superstars ready to become the next biggest music superstar in the world. Gibson is also producing various projects such as “The Uptown Story” on BET, airing in 2021, and her own dance competition experience called, “The Dance Games”. She’ll be returning to TV in 2021 as a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance” and as creative Director/ choreographer on MTV’s “Making the Band”.
