Marty Kay Jones grew up in a fairly urban area, so her parents were pretty confused when their child showed a strong interest in horses at age 2. Following a move to a more rural area in the Appalachian foothills during her childhood years, Ms. Jones found a whole new world to explore– including horseback riding lessons and plenty of room to roam! Through her books, Ms. Jones hopes to reach young readers who are as interested in the outdoors as she is. Her debut series brings horse-crazy readers to Old Quarry Lake Farms to learn more about the equestrian lifestyle– and the heartache and triumphs of being a child today. Written for young readers ages 8-12, pre-teens, and parents alike, Ms. Jones’ books have won over readers of all ages, thanks to their relatable characters, familiar situations, and real emotions. Additionally, her personable, warm, and easy-to-understand guidance and instruction on the topic of horses has earned Marty Kay Jones a reputation as an author who can inform and entertain readers who are curious about the world around them. When not playing with her own horses, Chip and Mango, Ms. Jones can be found hiking with her Australian Sheep Dog Petey, exploring all 430+ National Parks, National Battlefields, National Historic Sites, National Monuments, National Seashores, and National Recreation Areas, or curled up with a good mystery novel.
