I was born in 1951 in a very small town in Cuba, called Güines. It was what you could call an urban center of what was once a large region of small farms. For me it has been a long journey to go from these "humble beginnings" to promoting co-management and co-ownership as the way of the future. I would have never gotten to this point were it not for Nearsoft, a company I co-founded with my partner Roberto Martinez in 2007. Nearsoft has been a self-managed company from the get go and it has never ceased to affect me in profound ways. From the start, it has helped me identify many of my own fears and fears are the iron bars of the cages we live in. As you look at them, these bars start to fall and fresh air flows in, first as a trickle and then enough for a full liberating breath. RADICAL COMPANIES has been a powerful part of that process of liberation.
