Maya Rushing Walker is a writer, editor, and photographer working out of her 1787 farmhouse in northern New England. She loves far-flung places, both historical and modern, so she writes both historical fiction and contemporary fiction set in distant lands. As a half-Asian American born and raised in Honolulu, she enjoys cultural mash-ups, foreign languages, cross-genre music and film, and is a dedicated foodie with a love of street food. Maya graduated with a degree in international economics from Georgetown, and followed that up with a masters in East Asian Languages from Harvard and Ph.D. work at the University of Chicago in East Asian languages, specializing in medieval Japanese history. She is the author of The Portrait, a Regency period historical, and Coming Home to Greenleigh, a contemporary novel in women's fiction.
