Michael Pullara is a Texas trial lawyer. He specializes in complicated commercial disputes and dabbles in human rights litigation. During his forty-year career he has represented Death Row inmates seeking free exercise of religion; American oil companies suing Italian mobsters; Arabs suing for damage caused by US military action in Iraq; and small business owners suing international telecoms for fraud and breach of contract. In his book — The Spy Who Was Left Behind — he investigates the assassination of an American CIA officer who was shot near Tbilisi in 1993. He describes how he represented the family of the murdered man in a successful campaign to release from prison the young Georgian convicted of that killing. He demonstrates the young man’s innocence; exposes the perpetrators’ guilt; and lays bare a cover-up orchestrated by the US and Georgian governments. It is a story of treason, betrayal, and international intrigue. And it is entirely true.
