Mike Dickenson began writing in second grade and never looked back—though he still refuses to embrace cursive. His latest book, Activation of the Sovereign Hero, is a nonfiction exploration of self-sovereignty and personal empowerment. He is also the author of the political satire IQ84 and the young adult fantasy novel The Dreamer’s Lotus: The Sacred Symbol. Beyond writing, Dickenson is a filmmaker, educator, and wilderness guide, drawing inspiration from long stints in nature and immersive travel. From 2005 to 2007, he hitchhiked from Elko, Nevada, to Argentina, a journey that solidified his belief that perception shapes reality. His work—both in literature and film—blends satire, philosophy, and an exploration of humanity’s relationship with the natural world. He currently lives with his wife and daughter in Applegate, Oregon.
