Nicholas Walker is a short, fat, ugly man who has a unique facility to go around upsetting people. On his world tour during 2001 it has been said that he offended more people in more countries than even Prince Philip had achieved. He is a best selling author with twenty seven novels published mass market worldwide with a further thirty available on Kindle. He writes for both adults and children and has worked for the BBC as a freelance comedy writer. His two older children’s books: Crackling Ice and Skating on the Edge, were best sellers in America and are still on the school syllabus in a number of states. Nick is a serious scientist and has written a number of easy-read scientific books including: Dieting is for Idiots, an expose of the dieting industry and Kicking the Crap Out of the Martial Arts. Nick is a High School teacher of Science and a University professor of astrophysics and has taught in many countries around the world. He specialises in teaching in tough schools and has worked in Tower Hamlets in London and The Bronx in New York as well as a number of schools in Kuwait and Iraq. He founded his own Karate club thirty years ago and he built it up to be the most successful Martial Arts Organisation in Britain with clubs in Essex, Devon and Cornwall…and indeed in California and The Middle East and now Mallorca! Nick still teaches five nights a week when he is in the country. In 2001, Nick was in America just in time (of course!) for the World Trade Center attacks, in fact he was flying home that day. As he couldn’t get a flight back he sulked and stayed on in California for another five years as an illegal immigrant. He worked at Caltech for a time but then he managed a gym in Laguna Beach, down from LA, which had a number of Hollywood Stars as regular members. Nick became interested in the science of weight training and took the NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) degree and became a professional weight training instructor. He is now working on a book on the science of training: Exercise for Idiots. When Nick’s fourth marriage broke down he handled it in his traditional responsible manner and ran away from America receiving a ten year ban on his exit for overstaying his visa by four and a half years. He has never let this hinder him in any way and usually spends three months of every year in California. Nick is a ballroom dancer, he says it is very like karate only more painful! He is the founder of Dancing in the Dark the ballroom dance club. This started in Iraq as an underground dance club (dancing in public is forbidden in most the Middle East) and he has also had clubs in Scotland and Cornwall and now Mallorca. He regularly dances at Arthur Murray’s when in America. Nick has been jailed 16 times, all of them in The Middle East, 5 times for running an illegal dancing club and 11 for writing articles attacking the government. He says that spending the night in a cell gives you a whole new perspective as it is the only time in life when you genuinely have nothing to do but think! Nick has been married five times: to two British Women and three American Women and has three children living in Britain: Jaime, Alex and Penny and eight adopted Iraqi children living in Kuwait. He has six degrees including a Masters and a Ph.D. and is a Born Again Christian belonging to Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, California. Nick is a proclaimed Americophile and glories in both the differences and similarities of Britain and America. Nick is an activist against Capital Punishment which makes his less than popular in some parts of America and The Middle East. His two favourite women in the world are Angelina Jolie and Natasha Raskin from Bargain Hunt. He is presently living in Mallorca until he gets divorced again and has to run away!
