Everything I do is about leadership of change, whether through writing, speaking, consulting or mentoring, both online and in-person. The majority of my work is with people in organisations faced with the hard slog of tricky projects and programmes of change. Tricky usually means a combination of: * virtual teams; * risky, with uncertain outcomes; * complex and often ambiguous requirements; * complex and often culturally diverse mix of stakeholders, who need to be interested, engaged and involved. With this context, I work to bring clarity, communication and commitment. I provide support and tools to cut through the problems and to emerge successful, delivering benefits at the same time as developing confidence in the individuals involved. Facilitation skills, project management, leadership, change management, risk management and business analysis are my core skills, along with the tools and models I have developed over the years. People say that they enjoy my talks, whether in-person, virtual or hybrid presentations. I explain how you can apply the tips and strategies described in my books to powerful effect in your own organisation. Hard slog to creative collaboration is the idea! I enjoy writing about complex, tricky issues in a simple and engaging way. My brief stint doing doctoral research made me realise how much I disliked writing that made the reader work hard to understand, so I do the opposite! I'm delighted to work in partnership with others, including: ***Large numbers of people (my tribe) who contribute to my work through their stories, their insight, feedback (beta-readers) and by contributing to my surveys. Thank you! *** Ruth Murray-Webster, co-author of 'A Short Guide to Facilitating Risk Management' and editor of 'Managing Successful Programmes 5th Edition', who has a deep understanding of change and risk and how to make them work in the real world *** Rachael Brind-Surch and Vanessa Randle, illustrators extraordinaire, bringing the texts to life. *** James Archer, co-editor of 'Business Analysis: Leadership for Change', for his innovative and sometimes quirky but always insightful perspective on change *** many, many brilliant co-authors from the business analysis world for their contributions to 'Business Analysis: Leadership for Change'. My books have been published by Gower (now Routledge/Taylor and Francis), Kogan Page and now Practical Inspiration Partnership. I'm writing for you, the person grappling with the hard slog of getting projects done. My aim is to make your life better and your work more effective and fun, in the least possible time, through creative collaboration. Clients of my company, Making Projects Work Ltd, include Robert Half, TotalJobs, Barclaycard, Roche, NFU Mutual, Cmed Technology, Novo Nordisk, Abbott Laboratories, AstraZeneca, Quintiles, the UK NHS and other government departments, Korn Ferry, the National Grid, several leading UK Universities and international charities, big consultancies, banks, insurance companies, telecoms and IT providers.
