Pierre-Yves Beaurepaire is Professor of Modern History at the Université Côte d'Azur (Nice) and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. In 2023, he was awarded the Senate prize for history books for “Les Illuminati. De la société secrète aux théories du complot” (Tallandier, 2022, Texto poche 2023). A specialist in the world of the Enlightenment, sociability and networks, he has taught modern world history at the universities of New Caledonia, Brussels, San Francisco, Tokyo and Tunis. He has published some twenty books, including “La France des Lumières 1715-1789 (Belin, 2011, Folio Histoire, 2022)”, “La Communication en Europe de l'âge classique aux Lumières” (Belin, 2014), L'Europe des francs-maçons XVIIIe-XXIe siècle (Belin, 2018), Marie-Antoinette, une biographie gourmande (Payot Rivages, 2017), Les Lumières et le Monde. Voyager, Explorer, Collectionner (Belin, 2019). Several have been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic or Japanese. He has published two atlases: with Silvia Marzagalli, “Atlas de la Révolution française 1770-1803. Un basculement mondial”, (3rd ed. 2021) and ‘Atlas de l'Europe Moderne de la Renaissance aux Lumières’, published by Autrement.
